“I Want You” — Fiona Apple covering Elvis Costello with Elvis Costello

I certainly didn’t mean to end up here tonight. It was a pretty circuitous path to this video, and I had my doubts. But Apple pulls off an emotionally spot-on rendition, all while EC electrically accompanies her three feet away. I wish the camera stayed on them at the finish. I was looking forward to reading Costello’s face for approval or awe or aw shucks. Without a facial tell, I’ll just have to think he was pretty pleased.

[EDIT: Odd coincidence. Turns out Apple turned 34 today. Sorry all I got you was a blog post of a video where you externalize your seemingly deep anger and pain. Happy birthday?]
